Fakebook

Im so sick of facebook nowadays, I just deleted like 25 friends...because some I don't even know and I have accepted their request because of curiosity, and some I have met like 10 seconds saying hi, oh suddenly I'm friends with them on fa(k)ebook DELETE DELETE CLICK CLICK.
The only people I have on facebook that I haven't met, about 3,4 of them at the moment.....I think I keep them because I think I might meet them one day or they are "net-friends" that I like.
fakebook
Adding friends to facebook who you don't particularly like, socialize with or think you are friends with.
Go to her fakebook pages to see all of her friends he/she does not have.

Apparently lots of people love to put me on their fakebook, what's up with those weirdos that add you randomly?

Stop telling me what to eat!!!

I got this new dormmate, a Swedish Palestinian guy, let's say he is well built *cough* fat. So is his girlfriend, and I'm not talking about chubby/fat but REAL fat.
Several days I have been eating 2 meatballs, etc. Once I heated 1 meatball in the microwave and he saw it. He laughed which is ok, it is pretty funny. I'm not talking about those big meatballs, but those really tiny ones.
They saw me buying Diet Coke (why should I drink regular Coke that create stains on teeth when I can drink Diet Coke that has no calories and create NO stains???).
Then today, they saw me eat a small portion of food, and the girl asked me in an arrogant voice, do you eat 5 plates of that or do you just eat that??? And I answered her, well, maybe 2 of those plates everyday but then again I eat about 150 g of chocolate everyday. And she was like, you should eat real food (which is true, but anyway). And I both found it humorous and irritating, so is it healthy for her to eat 2 pieces of white bread with jam AFTER an already big dinner?
If I was a real bitch, I would say: Ehmm, should I be taking food advices from someone like you who looks like you will suffer from diabetes in 5 years?
They probably think I have some kind of eating disorder but they just don't know that I'm snacking ALL the time which I really need to stop doing because these last days I have noticed that I'm getting sloppier and with this weather I just have NO energy to go working out.
Please give me tips on how to get back on track again.

How to get drunk with 4 rmb

My friend just tagged me with this pic on facebook, and I love it! It really reminds of a typical Shanghai night. As a student with a minimal budget I didn't even want to spend money on many drinks at C's bar. Nope! Instead we went to Kedi and bought rice vodka for 4 rmb a bottle and drank it ALL up (yes it was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted but we did get a bit tipsy of this 62% alcohol percentage drink) when we were on the way to the fancy Bund in our 20 rmb taxiride (first stop, Glamour Bar and later on to Attica's poolparty in July).
Ain't life sweet?
It really looks like I'm enjoying drinking this shit.

Love at first sight

I'm going to buy this mohair top when I get my 50 kr check from H&M.
The size of the top is XS, hihi.
(the photos are taken from my new cellphone and are transferred to my phone easily via Bluetooth, gosh I love technology.)
Anyway I love those big oversize tops because then I can wear tights or stocking under with my Topshop booths. Oh and also to hide my bust...
Btw, I got an email from some reader who wanted to share this website http://www.outdoorlovemap.com/

Shopgirl vs. TheOtherGirl

You must be so tired of my "Laguna Beach" accent and my innocent piece of face. so I thought I would bring in a guestblogger. We met in Shanghai and we have a lot in common. But at the same time we are very different, so I thought you readers might want to get a bit of fresh air onto this blog. We are both around 20 years old overseas Chinese girls who likes clothes, music and boys, but still we are VERY different.
I thought we would mention our 3 favourite spots in Shanghai each, and you will instantly know the difference between us. This post's theme is CLUBS/BARS.

Shopgirl's Top3

1. Lounge18: I love the ambience in there, the design of the place, the people, etc. It is not pretentious as the other bars on the Bund. In Lounge18, everyone can have fun and it is extremely easy to randomly meet new people. Although you should still be warned, there are A LOT of Europeans.

2. Constellation: I love sitting here! On a Friday night it can be busy but is so worth the wait. The bartenders concludes of older Chinese men in tuxedos putting 100% of their efforts to make extraordinary cocktails for the ladies. The music is great as well, not too loud, not too quiet. Perfect for a intimate rendevouz. Did I mention the lightening in the place makes your face look prettier ;) best hidden place in Shanghai.

3. bonbon: Yes, I know what you are going to say. The place is full of underaged kids who gets drunk of the 98 rmb Open Bar. But I have to say I have had too many good memories (also bad ones) from this club to not mention it here. This was the place I first ever got really drunk at, this was the place I first had a dancing threesome with (straight) guys, this was the place I first started to enjoy electronical music. The soundsystem is great, some of the DJ's they bring in are also great, the layout of this club is also great, the location is great, etc. Despite all the bad things you have heard about this place, this is an all time favourite and you haven't experienced Shanghai's nightlife for real if you haven't been to this place. No, there are not ONLY underaged kids, also some handsome 28 years old ;)

TheOtherGirl's Top3

1. Logo: The place that I always seem to end up returning to. Recently-ish refurbished (not sure how I feel about the new look) its somewhere I like to have cheap drinks, see friends (who obviously being like minded people are regulars of this place), and dance. Very friendly crowd and a good mix of Expats and Locals. There is a pretty cool Japanese community here in Shanghai. There are a bunch of Japanese "Ragstas" you'll see here getting high at Logo's weekly reggae and dubstep night called ONE LOVE. The boss Taipei who you'll see sitting at the bar handling the cash is a pretty interesting guy if you ever feel like a chat. Logo is small, at times its dead but when there is a good party or no where else to go it seems to be where the afteparty is. There or the Shelter. If any of you decide to check it out and arent too impressed dont worry. Ladies there is an adult shop next door and for the boys there is a "pink light" hairdressers on the other side.

2. YingYang: Another favourite of mine. Its one of the oldest running bars in Shanghai. Back in the 90s it was a very popular club but alas the downstairs club venue is now a gallery space after being closed off for many years. For good reasonably priced drinks with friends, a dark relaxed atmosphere when night falls. Also for the free drinks and funny conversation from Kenny the laoban after a night of antics and not wanting to sleep. If you are looking for somewhere to dance or with good music this is NOT it, its for good conversation with friends.

3. C's: Shopgirl insisted I came up with a third. So I'm forcing this one out. I guess I would say C's. Its underground, very rundown, there is writing all over the walls and yet it still is very charming. Students love this place and when they have the Antidote Parties this place is packed with a good crowd. Its unpretentious unlike many places on the Bund and you don't have to dress up.

I don't want a bf

I can write this because my parents' computer is broke, so she will hardly check my blog.
I will delete this post in a few days, anyway. My mother wants me to get a boyfriend, preferrably a boy from Stockholm. That's all she talks about when I'm at home. It's getting really tiresome. I don't want a boyfriend, what am I going to do with a boyfriend? I often go to Shanghai, and trust me, in Shanghai I want to stay in single!!!!!!!!!! S-I-N-G-L-E!!!!!!!!
Besides I'm so busy as it is now, just add a boyfriend and I won't survive. Also, I don't have time finding a boyfriend either. Whenever I have free time I just want to stay inside my room and watch American TVepisodes, cause I hate clubbing in Stockholm, sometimes I do because my friends force me to go out (Am I getting old?)

Jeez, you just gotta cherish being single!!! When I'm 27 I can start consider having a boyfriend.
Hey guys, am I being immature?

BTW, a disposable bf would be the best option for me :)

I like to walk here on a Wednesday afternoon to watch Shanghai's cream of the top.

Blue

These last days I have felt so depressed, I'm sure it's because of the weather. I HATE fall and even worse winter. You just want to sit inside and eat eat eat and only watch movies. I don't want to go out, don't want to meet people. I promised myself to study a bit more but I just can't. Today I have done 2 things, watching Veronica Mars episodes and eating (chocolate, chips fries, dip, yoghurt, more chocolate, etc.) That is why I usually gain like 5 kg's during this season!!!! Someone needs to save me! I even find it BORING to shop. I hate Sweden right now. I just want to have hotpot with my cousin in Shanghai or sit and watch movies in a warm apartment with some future guy that I like. But nope, neither is going to happen.

Ask and Answer

I get a lot of emails from you readers and I thought it would be better if you could ask your questions in this comment section instead, and then I will give you a long throughout answer. A lot of times I get the same questions and it's a bit timeconsuming to answer every email with the same answer.
You can ask whatever except too personal questions hehe, but I think you know the boundaries ;)

Here are the top 3 questions I receive:

1. What is the best shopping place in Shanghai?
When you're in Shanghai I would suggest you to first go to Qipu Road (close to Nanjing Walking Street), a lot of other small shops you see on the streets stock up their clothes from Qipu Road and sell it for a much more expensive price. Go to Qipu Road first and get to know their collections so you don't get cheated in other stores. Qipu Road fits both male and females. On the first, second floor is very busy. 3rd, 4th floor is better and is full of shops instead of tiny boots, although it will also be abit more expensive than on first or second floor. Buildings to check out are New Xingwang and Old Xingwang, most taxidrivers know which buildings these are.

2. Why are you in Sweden?
I get a lot of emails from people asking me why I'm in Sweden, they think that I'm some kind of exchange student here which is not the case. I am a Swedish citizen, have lived in Sweden all my life. I speak much better Swedish than Chinese and am currently trying to figure out how to get better in Chinese.

3. What do you do during weekends in Shanghai?
I like eating out, I love walking on some random streets. I often hang out in Zhongshan Park, in Cloud 9 Mall, I love Carrefour for some reason. I also like Jing An Si a lot, I love the supermarket beneath City Plaza. Also I usually go out in the evenings. Clubs I really like in Shanghai is Lounge18 and bonbon (but none of my friends want to go there). To be honest I'm getting disappointed in Shanghai's nightlife, in 2006 it was great, so as 2007 with mint (was my favourite club), Attica (it was really good at that time), etc. I hate the clubs inside Fuxing Park and those on Yueyang Road (Muse, Sky, etc.) Believe it or not, I also dislike Bar Rouge. Just too many french people for me to handle. I really hope some cool venues will open up soon in SH.

I'm so blessed

Recently I have been thinking a lot about my life, what if I never ended up in a small town in Sweden? What if I always lived and got raised in mainland China? I wonder what kind of person I would be at this moment? Isn't it amazing how a human being's destiny can change like that in one night, for me it was obviously that day I landed in Sweden for the first time.
What if I was raised in Stockholm instead of a small town? Would I be isolated within the Chinese community?
I just feel so blessed. I hope that I was lucky to come to a small idyllic Swedish town where I grew up with no other but just native Swedes. And the best of all, I did actually end up in Sweden of all countries in the world where even higher education is for free, I even receive money from the government because I'm a student. Isn't it amazing? I happen to end up in a country where the population is one of the best non-english speaking country who speaks best english (second place after the Netherlands).
And for some reason, I don't dare to believe if it's luck or destiny.
I am so lucky that I have had the chance to experience so much in life, having been explored to so many different cultures and lifestyles. WOW. Thinking about it makes me shiver. I'm so truly blessed. We are studying probability theory at the moment, and I'm thinking, what if the dice was thrown in another way, just 0.0000001 second faster, If so I would still be in China not knowing much about rest of the world, and maybe still a bit afraid and shy seeing a whitey on the street?

I'm not a BRAND whore

Hat: a small shop next to grand gateway in Xujiahui
Top: Weekday men's collection (A regular Swedish clothing chain)
Tights: dark blue ones from Qipu Road
Bag: from Zhongshan Park metrostation
Ankle boots: Topshop
Watch: Calvin Klein which I have used everyday since February when I bought it.

I certainly would not call myself a brand whore. And how do you guys define brand? H&M is a brand but it's not really a prestigeful brand. The only "prestigeful brand" I own is hmmm let me think, my new LV bag, my Calvin Klein watch, YSL sunglasses, Marc Jacobs peeptoe heels, Acne Jeans and a Acne dress, ehhhhmmm that's it I think....

(compared to one of my friends who owns a Mulberry Baywater, Chanel 2.55 and is soon buying a LV Never Full, oh she is also soon going to buy a pair of Christian Louboutin heels, and she also just bought a pair of mouse ballerinas from Marc Jacobs.)

Oh NO!

I almost choked myself this morning when I went to the grocery shop to buy Svenska Dagbladet (one of Sweden's biggest newspaper). I knew they had interviewed my the day before on the street regarding my opinion about the stock exchange. I had no idea they would put a friggin huge picture of me with every detail of my acne spots on my face. Today at class my old classmate laughed and mentioned that she saw me and almost spilled her coffee on bed.

Today's outfit

Someone commented that I'm immature because I think too much of how I should look. I agree somewhat. It is a bit silly, but it is not AS silly as some girls I see on the streets of Stockholm. 12 years old girls wearing Diesel Jeans and LV bags already. I had an interesting conversation with a Germany exchange student the other day, he said that he was very surprised that everyone cared so much of what they wore. He said you can directly see if the person on the campus is Swedish or an Erasmum student.

I agree, in Sweden, especially Stockholm everyone dress like it was fashion week everyday (right now in NYC). I don't know why though, our neighbour countries such as Norway and Denmark don't seem to care as much.

Nr 1 Trend

........is Asia especially China in focus. Everywhere here in Sweden, Asia is in focus. Even in my supersmall idyllic town in Sweden, our local bookstore has a China theme where they have put all literature regarding Chinas history and economic boom on a special section for people to give their attention to. Also here in Stockholm they have especially taken out the books about China and put them in the middle of the store for people to see. A company selling water bottles have also put Asia on their theme with Asian flavours such as litchi in their water. Also in the grocery shops there are more Chinese products popping up, such as imported 1 minute noodles (Xin La Mian, my favourite!!!). TV shows about being in Asia. Several of the big newspapers have also China section where they talk about China's lifestyle, history, business, etc. You can also see more Asian influence on the fashion shows! My next step is to make my mother fix my kimono so it gets shorter, so I can wear it as a dress!

My body is hurting

WOW, only after 2 months of non regular exercise schedule, my body has gotten all fragile. I did a bodypump and bodyjam class on Friday afternoon, and the next day my whole body was retarded. But I still had to go out and walk in high heels...and now when I got home, it hurt even more. It won't get better tomorrow but I need to go to dance class because I had pasta carbonara tonight, it was very yummy!!!
Sometimes I really like Stockholm, on a Saturday night the restaurants and bars are full of people unlike Shanghai (just not enough of expats to fill the places, and the Chinese people just don't have this culture to go out and have a glass of wine and an interesting conversation).

I bought a pair of Shepherd slippers so I can survive winter :)

PS. Today I randomly met a guy in the metro that I have met in Shanghai through common friends. We sang KTV back in the old days. Good times...

Red lips

Actually I'm a bad example of a girl wearing red lipstick, you should use a lipliner if you decide to have a very strong colour on your lips, but I'm too cheap to go buying one. I got this lipstick from Make Up Store in colour "China red" for free from my dear friend. Going to start wearing this everyday. In that way everyday becomes a party ^_^

Shit...

The last day to send in the application for being an Exchange student in Jiaotong University was 2 September!!!!!!!!!!! Shit...  But might work for a good place in SH from this January, but then I have to take a paus from university which I don't really want to. I feel so stressed, there are so many things I have on my agenda at the moment.
Today I finally got registered in Unga Aktiesparare, which is for all the young people who want to invest in stocks and bonds. Time for me to earn some BIG money now when the stock exchange has gone down so much, going to create a portfolio this weekend (any tips are appreciated)
Anyway, I think I will choose Accounting as my focus next semester, because it is so fundamental within business, you can work with everything if you're into accounting unlike finance which has smaller sectors.
Today was fun, after work some girl followed me and then touched me when i listened to my iPod and she asked where I bought my white shirt (see picture) and asked if I had bought it in Sweden. I said no...unortunately not. And she said FAN också!!! (Damn!!!)
haha (I wore two outfits today)
less fun is today I ate 4 Mozarella sticks and fries at Burger King with the extra garlic dip and I felt absolutely DISGUSTING afterwards. the mozzarella sticks are NASTY, don't know if you can get them in shanghai. but it was seriously bad, can I sue them?

Tip of the day

I just got a new cellphone, a Nokia 6500 slide. My old LG got a bit ruined because it got wet...
anyway, my new phone is THE shit, I love it. Has a 3.2 mpex camera with also videocamera, it's a 3G phone which is nice...
Anyway, my tip is that if you want to pimp your phone you have to get an account at www.zedge.net, there you can choose between thousands of screensavers, background pictures, ring tones, games to your cellphone. Also you can also create your own screensaver, for an example a picture of you or something like that.
Currently I have twin stars as my background, and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger with daft punk as my ringtone.

You have to get it!!!
