The one at Charmante is the best (first picture), altought the one at Chamate is NOT good!!

I've heard Bellagio's shaved ice is AMAZING as well! Will definitely try theirs out.

Last day of my Internship

I'm in a FANTASTIC mood!!!

Woke up, prepared myself, walk out, grabbed a taxi instead of taking line 3 (I deserve some luxury!!!) get off at Zhongshan Park metrostation, buy icecoffee at McDonalds, arrive PPL Square, buy bread, walk in to office.

Create Happiness

This was the best lunch hour I have ever had. I went to Subway on Nanjing walking street, and brought the baguette to Pizza Hut to buy their ice drink with icecream in. Just wanted to enjoy their aircondition. Well I was reading and on my table there were lots of stuff, so I accidentally spilled my drink after just a few sips. I complained to the staff that they should've taken off some things from my table while I was there, otherwise I would not have spilled my drink. After 5 minutes they came with a new takeaway drink. I thought of you readers telling me not to drink too much "sweet drinks", so I thought OK, I'm going to give it away.
So on my way back to the office I passed this old woman who sell those white flower bracelets (they stand there all day in the sun to sell those, they are probably very sweaty) they are really the ones that deserve money and not regular beggars (I hardly ever give anything to regular beggars)! So I told her it was new and that I couldn't eat it because I was too full. And you should have just seen her smile!!!!!!!!! It was the biggest genuine smile I have ever seen in my life.
She made my day and maybe I made hers :)

UPDATE: I saw her today and said hi to her, and when i was walking away he winked me back and gave me one of her flower bracelets =)

Playground at work

This is among the cutest thing someone has done to me.
Yesterday at work in the morning all the green teas, and sodas arrive and people seriously RUN to get one of those (not enough for everyone), well while I was in the area getting water and I saw the crowd, I didn't want to be one of those who pushes everyone to get my soda, so I just asked a guy who I recognized (because he's sitting 2 rows opposite me) if he could get me a green tea. He gave me one of course.

Today this morning this same guy came to my desk and gave me a green tea :)

Luxury or just terrible?

WOW, just heard this info from the woman sitting next to me at work. She lives in the apartment with her husband during weekdays, it's only during weekend their daughter gets to live with them. To see their daughter who's like 4 or 5 years old two times a week...???

Oh, and to something totally different. Why do people say for an example. Kate Moss inspires me, or when famous designers say: I get inspired by gonig to vintage shops.

Best Lunch

Today I went to Wujiang Road to have lunch, a big bowl of fruit salad with crushed ice (6 rmb) and it's delicious!!! They put some jam, coconut juice, etc over the ice and it's just so delicious!!! Then I had four shenjians at the Famous Xiao Yang Shengjian place. My lunch cost 10 rmb! and it was VERY yummy, I'm very stuffed at the moment.
Also I went to the bank and am happy with my economy :)

Metro check up

My Metro Memoirs.

Today the metro was packed, when I was going to go out from the metro at Peoples Square station, a guy actually grabbed my ass and squeezed it.........several times. I had my hands full so I could not put his hands away. What should a girl do in this situation? My mother told me to never be in fights in Shanghai because it can lead to serious consequences, slapping him might have led to a serious consequence...

Another story is, now before the Olympic Games, there are people who will check your bags (if it's big enough) before you go into the metro. Usually I never have to show it to them but as I once got eye contact with one of the guards the guy called me when I was wearing my Will's gym bag, and the funny thing is they hardly checked when I opened my bag saying it's only gym clothes in there, they were just feeling the clothes, and then said. OK, and let me go. Total waste of time and energy!

My hew hat

My old hat is in Guandii, I left it there on purpose :) I like my new hat so much more, 75 rmb!

I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT

I don't dare to stand on the scale, because I just know I have gained weight, and not just a little...
I was about 56kg when I came to SH, then I lost probably 2 kg after benig in Shanghai 2 weeks...and now I'm probably 58,59 (I'm just assuming), but I see it in the mirror that my arms are wider, also my belly AND legs. I don't know if it's my imagination? Because when I'm at the gym working out I look in the mirror and think I actually look a bit fit in my gym clothes. Maybe the gym mirror lies? (probably) BUT how on earth can my body go from rather fit to SLOPPY in just 3 weeks???
Anyway, I haven't been to the gym in 8 days!!!!!!!! Going tonight! Bodycombat, spinning class + weights.
I don't even like dressing up anymore :(

But then again, It's not often I'm in Shanghai, I want to eat the street food and all the cool dishes, etc. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

moustache

I went for a haircut on Saturday and it ended up with me looking like a monkey, the guy cut it so my fringe is long in the middle of the head but shorter on the ends. It looks weird. I'm considering to sue them.

Why does it look like I have a moustache on pictures? I swear, I don't have one, because I use to pick on them so they don't appear.

Friday

I had Brazilian BBQ with my cousin in Raffles City (78rmb/person) third floor, felt disgusted afterwards, felt like I soon were going to give birth to twins. After that we went to an arcade place on Huai Hai Road, and it ended up with someone stole my lovely glasses and my rather new Lancome eyeliner!!!

Anyway, no need to be upset. I'm out partying tonight. Who said anything about a typhoon, during day the weather was awesome, now it's raining a lot though :( But I'm still going to hang out by Fuxing Park I think.

Staying in this weekend

Actually I think I might stay inside this weekend, I heard of this typhoon that might reach Shanghai on Saturday. If the weather looks shitty on Saturday I guess I will watch some episodes of Ugly Betty, Kung Fu Panda and Everyone loves Mandy Lane (Really want to see this movie, nothing better to watch a scary movie with family when it's shitty weather outside!)
No parties for me this Friday and Saturday =) I guess...

UPDATE: I start to get obese, today I ate Brazilian BBQ with my cousin and I DON'T FEEL GOOD!!! Also I see pics of me and I feel not as energetic as before. I need endorphins!!! I might go to the gym tomorrow.... Start being healthy and skip all the alcohol and all disgusting fat I'm getting in my body.

Where to shop trendy clothes (both gender)

I get tons of comments and emails about where to go and shop. So I decided to write a thread about ALL cool and good places to go to (give ratings as well).

Shaanxi Road - I would call this a shopping place for Shanghai newbies. You are amazed at what clothes you can find here, Marc Jacobs, GUESS shoes for 500 rmb, real See by Chloe tops for 400 rmb, etc. But it is quite expensive and the clothes are so so, sometimes you can find treasure. Just by the corner of Shaanxi Road and Changle Road there's a shoe store with REAL brand shoes for good prices (those shoes you can actually find in the department store but in this special shop you pay much less). You can in most cases not bargain here. Shoppingstreet for women.

Xinle Road - A bit better than Shaanxi Road, a bit fancier, a bit trendier, also a bit more expensive. Although there are about 3,4 shops there who don't overcharge, such as the store where I bought my purple dress (240 rmb if I remember correctly). But on Xinle Road they really got some amazing things that you drool over but don't want to pay such high prices. Hardly no bargain at all. Shoppingstreet for both women and men

Changle Road - You can find House of Holland Tshirts here for about 300rmb, plus some other cool designer shops. Quite expensive though. Prices are about 400 - 1000 for a top. I believe men can find good things here more often than those other streets. No bargain, maybe the staff will give you 10% off or something. Shoppingstreet for both women and men

Zhongshan Park Metro station (walk ahead exit 6) - One of the best places for sure, I have found lots of cute and trendy things here. And prices are good as well, around 80 - 300rmb for tops, shoes around 100 rmb. There are also a couple food places there that are cool and trendy and cheap! And most of the time you can bargain here. Shoppingstreet for women

Email Plaza - Opposite City Plaza in Jingansi (just by metrostation). I like this place, they got some cool and very trendy clothes, great selection of underwear for women. Expect to pay 200 - 400 for clothes here though. Sometimes you can bargain, sometimes not. Shoppingstreet for women

This is all for now, wait til Monday and I will give you report of other places! I plan to visit Ruijin Yi Road (crosstreet from Huaihai Road, look like they got some nice shops), also I read in Shanghai Talk about this street called Fengxian Road north of Nanjing Xi Road. There's an underground on Huaihai Road called Hongkong somthing, can't remember, but they have lots of manicure places and of course lots of clothingstores. Might check that out as well this coming weekend. Shopping is my exercise nowadays :( I just don't have the energy to travel to Jinmao building just to go to the gym...

25th July

That is my last day of my Internship :) and it is also a Friday. My dear friends, you are all invited to celebrate with me next Friday!

I'm a bit pissed off, the Marc Jacobs heels I bough in January, one heel has some patent leather fallen off!!! I went to the store by Shanghai center yesterday and they told me they couldn't do anything about it because I bought them in Sweden, but my friend who bought a Gucci bag in Sweden could switch in her bag to the store in China because some colour from her bag was fading off. Designer stuff don't mean HIGH QUALITY.....apparently!

Coincidences

- On my flight from Zurich to Shanghai there were two Swedish boys behind me, I saw both of them in Cloud9 Mall in Zhongshan Park 3 weeks later.

- As I got here in SH I hung out a lot with two Swedish girls who are unfortunately now in Hongkong, anyway, one of those two girls has a malecousin who lived in the dormitory beneath me, we always had parties together ni their dormitory and then in Shanghai I actually party a lot with his cousin, haha. Knew this fact through facebook "common friends".

- Last Wednesday at Sugar I randmly met my classmate from my class of 300 students in Stockholm's University Business Programme. He knew my Swedish friend very well.

- A good Swedish friend here in Shanghai knows a guy from his old job, who is member of our Business Programme magazine

My Beijing Duck

Yesterday I had dinner with my friend from Stockholm's University (she's in the same class as me) and we ate the best Beijing Duck on Nanjing Walking Street at a place called Old Beijing, the interioir decor was nice and the duck was awesome!!! We ordered the duck and 2 dishes, 250 rmb for 3 persons.

This morning to work I got almost run over by a bicyclist and I get mad (of course) and another fellow cyclist saw me and laughed. I wanted to roast him at that time.

Faith

I was just thinking if I should spend 350 rmb on a shirt I saw in Email Plaza, I mean 350 rmb is quite a lot in Shanghai and I'm quite cheap...but when I saw this shirt in Email Fashion I have been thinking about it a lot. And today, I was randomly searching through Alexa Chung's outfits (I think she has a nice style) and then I found that she has a shirt (blue and red) that looks exactly the same as the one I saw in the shop!!! I think I have made a decision...

Most Meaningless Job?

Seriously, China's most meaningless job must be those "guards" who opens the entry door for you when you get into a building.

They just stand there and open the door start 7 am til late evening...now maybe you can understand why young Chinese students are studying so hard everyday.

My best Shanghai tips just for you!!!

Today I went to the gym, after I went to Yogo Juice (a chain specializing in healthy smoothies and juices), there's one just by my gym in Jinmao building and another one on Wujiang Road. If you order big cup (around 32 rmb, much better value than Starbucks!!!) you get a free boost (I chose Protein boost but there are several others you can choose from).

After that I took the metro to JingAnSi and went to Email Fashion, a place with lots of clothing shops, I bought a light pink handbag 300rmb (Chanel style) and some underwear (they have awesome selection of underwears!!! Hanky Panky kind of style around 20rmb). Then I walked further down Nanjing Xi road (to Yan an direction) and there's a shop there selling REAL Steve Madden and GUESS shoes for 300-400 rmb prices!!! Damn, I've already bought too much shoes here, but maybe I will buy them if you're not ahead of me.

I got told by a friend to never use taxis with women because they can't find their way, yesterday we had a female driver and she couldn't find Bund 3 for us, today I encountered another female driver today and she drove a different way than usual ended up with me getting home about 10 minutes later! DON'T USE FEMALE DRIVERS!

Went to the gym yesterday and now I remember HOW AMAZING AND FUN IT IS!!! Especially going to classes.
For an example spin, it is much more fun here than in Sweden, you're in a cool room with discolights and the music on superloud volume, and with good music as well!!!!! They even played E-Type (a Swedish singer doing eurotechno stuff), and you're just sweating your ass off. It's so great!!! I will miss spin classes here.
The personal trainer was not at the gym last night though :(
Anyway, tonight I think I will go to Attica and I will not drink much so I can go to the gym tomorrow! :D

I broke the clothing rule

Another embarassing thing happened today (Why do embarassing things happen to me all the time?).

Remember I wore the clothes I wore from last night to office yesterday (it was the dress I bought on changle road striped one). And later that evening I receive a text message from my cousin saying that my groupleader at work told my colleague who knows my cousin that I cannot wear that kind of "sexy" clothes to the office. Group Leader ---> Colleague ---> My cousin ---> Me

instead of Group Leader (who sits next to me) ---> Me

and then another text message came up saying, When the guys at the workplace see you with not much on they cannot concentrate on working, which was even more embarassing. So I texted back to my cousin saying I would dress like a nun today. I'm wearing tshirt and shorts now.

The dress does not look very "sexy" here but it is low cut on the back and shows quite much from the side.

Rough

Now...finally being about 35 minutes late to work I am here sobering up from last night. Last night was rough and tiring. I'm even wearing what I wore last night. Hope it's not against the rule.
I even met a classmate of mine from Stockholm's University!!!
Sugar (9-11 only girls who get worthless goodie bags but good free manicures, then the hot guys are allowed to get in at 11), M2, I met a colleague of mine that I recognized, and he was embarassed........mwahahaha, I think I just saw him here in the office, he is wearing proper office attire.

Can't wait til 12, then I'm going to order the BIGGEST and FATTEST menu from McDonald's next door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EMBARASSING

Today is very windy, at least in downtown area. I was gonig to Wujiang Road to have lunch and then on my way back to the office and a huge wind is taking over me, I'm wearing the blue floral dress from Qipu Road and I flash myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So embarassing, and there were people around looking, and even a couple of laowais opposite the fake market were giving me embarassing smiles!!!!

By the way, these past 5 days I have been eating til I'm 120% full, I feel disgusted!!! Today party, tomorrow party (all leaving parties).

Tuesday's Rant

This is China - card:
Doesn't it makes you pissed off? My aunt who I live with now shouldn't be so typical Chinese as she has travelled around the world soooooooooo much, she has basically been everywhere because of business trips, but still she's extremely chinese. Once she told me that I had to bring the umbrella as it is so sunny outside, I don't do that, I don't like people who do that either, so I said no, and then she keeps on telling me I should bring the umbrella and my spontaneous reaction to that was: Gosh no, that is such a Chinese thing to do. And she asks, so you are not Chinese? You're in China now. This is China!!!
And I'm not only talking about umbrellas in the sunshine now, I'm talking about dressing sense, my appeal for which kind of food I like, basically my whole lifestyle. I think my relatives' dream is that I will just change my whole lifestyle. YAY! My opinion to that? XXXX XXX!!!

Umbrella - card:
It won't make you cool off, and it won't really make you more tan (all girls here want to be white)as you will still be exploited to the sun. So there is NO point in using umbrellas when it's sunny!!! Today going to work, there were about 30 people in one group waiting to cross the street, there were at least dozens of umbrellas before me poking my forehead!! Now that get me pissed off!!!

Metro - card:
Really, just avoid going to the metrostation on Mondays at around 8.15 am, it will kill you. ESPECIALLY by People's Square metrostation, if you want to play rugby when you step off the train then stop at People's Square!!!

Sassy Saturday, Sleepy Sunday

Yesterday I spent my day at the hair salon, had dinner at SUBWAY (yummy!!!), met up with a friend, our initial plan was to check out MAO, but there were hardly no people there, so we also checked out those bars around such as Abbey Road (Danish party last night? I bet), etc. Ended up eating pizza at Sasha's. After that we went to M2 in Plaza66, great music but too many people and extremely smokey, so we decided to check out Lounge18 (the BEST place on the Bund). There we tried our pick up lines (we live in 21th century, of course us girls can do pick up lines as well), and WOW, it does work!!! I won' tell you the line though ;)

Today with NO makeup at all (let the skin relax a bit) I went shopping and now im going to spend time with my cousin. I bought a pair of jeans, a pair of shoes, and some things from Watson. I love Watson, they have EVERYTHING for a girl and they are all packed in supercute packages!!! Just look at my new wet tissues :) They even got Hello Kitty sanitary towels for women!!! It doesn't get cuter than this! Will buy lots of things from Watson back to Sweden! There's a 5 years old girl licing inside me :)

What a Hairday

Last Night

I went to the gym in Jinmao and when I'm in my bodycombat class the HOT personal trainer checks out the class and we get several eyecontacts, my knees get weak!!! When I was finished with gym I walked past him on the stairs and all I could do was give him a polite smile.gaaaaaaaaah. If you haven't taken a walk from Jinmao Building to Oriental Pearl Tower I suggest you to do so. It's so beautiful, you are surrounded by world's highest skyscrapers and you walk there and see the lights. It's an amazing view and you feel so small suddenly.

After gym went to preparty, then Sugar, Velvet Lounge (free drinks!!!) and at last Partyworld (karaoke) - my throat hurts a bit. Came home at 6 o'clock.
Today it's a new launch party for LAN, so we'll see what we will be up to tonight. Pictures will come

I'm going to DYE my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend knows a friend who works at Schwarzkopf hair salon in Shanghai, and now they are searching for hair models, so I can dye my hair for free! Schwarzkopf sounds very professional and I would like to do a change with my hair. I have never dyed my hair before so it would be fun to do it once in my lifetime, right? I'm considering brown highlights. I'm supernervous, think I will do it today after work. Promise to post pics after haha :)

OK, tomorrow saturday I'm going to dye my hair at 4pm!!!!!!!! Last day with black hair, haha
Well, if it really looks bad I can just dye it back to black.
