The view from Jinmao

Yesterday after the gym my cousin's wife was still working, so she gave me a guided tour of her office! The whole floor in Jinmao building is just dedicated to the lawfirm Baker & McKenzie, anyway it was a very nice office with a fantastic view! (trying to upload pics, but doesnt work yet, they will come soon).
Today I went to Cloud9 Mall and had dinner at a Korean restaurant together with my cousin. I feel pregnant :(

Plans change

I didn't end up at Mao neither Muse 2...
It ended up with me going to C's for a quick drink with a new friend I randomly met while I was stealing wifii on first floor of my apartmentbuilding, after C's I went to some Swedish houseparty, then later we all went som Aussie and Irish houseparty, I remember I was so rude there (tend to get like that when I have drunk too much), I remember there was this really hairy guy and I told him to get a wax, haha. And we had a long conversation about men and their masculinity....hmmm
After that houseparty we went to Bund 18 (I seriously start to hate Bar Rouge with passion), met friends from previous parties among them a french guy who wants to and marry me in LasVegas today, I got bored, so another friend came and we started to play the game "Let's guess who is Swedish"...hmm and after that we went to City Diner. Over ~~~~~

Eyecandy

I will be honest, I'm not very interested in Asian guys, some are cute but they are just not for me, they are somehow so childish and cutie cute, I like more masculine guys, I kind of like bad boys...anyway, I want to say there's an exception. There's a guy at my gym, he works here which makes me want to go to Will's Gym in Jinmao building even more often. He is the most goodlooking Chinese guy I have ever seen, I know he is Shanghainese. His body...Oh My God, his face...really good as well, his teeth......so so

anyway, he helped me with the weights today for 2 seconds.... and he looks at me sometimes =)
and today when I was doing situps he comes to the machine just next to me when there are other free machines, also there is a machine by the weights area, but he came to the one next to me, gotta be a sign right? ;)
Sometimes he comes to this juice bar in the entry of the gym and after he orders a drink the girls look at him and start to giggle. He's FIT!!!!

Tonight's plans: MAO, M2 (Markus Schultz is playing!!!)

Baaaaah

I'm at home on Friday, which is actually nice...(sometimes it's nice to take a break).
So I went to the Xinjiang restaurant to order food and now I'm way too full, I feel sick. It was that Xinjiang restaurant who has this person who works there who paid my restaurantbill a couple of days ago, this time he did not pay for my bill, but he did slip me a note with his cellphone number together with the receipt, sneaky. When I was going to leave the resturant he said, if you have time, call me.

I'm still shivering...

SmartShanghai

Got a picture taken by SmartShanghai when I was at Lounge 18, such a bad picture of me though....

I do have in internship

Typically Chinese thing to do, now the company that I was planned to intern for is taking me back.....so I will still be working inside Tian An Center start 1st July........ and I need to be there before 8.30 am Monday til Friday....that is what I call torture!

Last night I went to Bloc Party at Volar (free champagne), Laris (too many people but best lychee martinis ever) and then De La Coast (where I met a blog-reader who was such a cutie).
Outside De La Coast we randomly met some Swedes and headed together to Attica, 5 minutes in Attica and I grabbed a taxi home, outside my apartment they sold Lamb meats on stick, of course I grabbed some. Photo: The Taiwanese noodle I ate earlier before heading out, outfit for the night.

My Day

So today I hung out with my lovely cousin, we went to Dairy Queen in Infiniti mall, then grabbed a cab to Changle Road to eat Be For Time Dim Sum (I'm not going to eat for the whole day now), then shopped on Changle Road (came home with NO bags), then went to Yongqi to get a hairwash and massage :) I think I will go to Vue Bar in Hyatt Bund to grab a drink with some Swedes, then go to Malones, and then some of my other Swedish friends plan to party (although I shouldn't, but whatever I'm in Shanghai, I'm allowed to have fun).
Pictures: The star dress I bought for 100 rmb and wore it today :) rest of the pics you can all guess what's about :)

Seriously

What happens in Shanghai stays in Shanghai.
I promised NOT to drink!!!!!!!!! I'm really tipsy, had the best lychee martini ever at room twenty eight. and some other hmmmmm drinks there.
Was celebrating that I got my internship at my old place, agreed to work there but now I'm secretly in doubts. I start 8.30 and have to be in Tian An Center at that time!!! How strenuous is that!?!?!?!?

UPDATE: This is CRAZY, I went out for dinner, and while I sat there and I have totally forgot what came out of my mouth but somehow it ended up that the restaurant owner next to the one I ate at PAID FOR MY BILL!!!!!!! How CRAZY is that???? Ok, It was a 20 rmb bill, but still!!!!!!!!
Only in China......

Giving out numbers

It's funny since I came here to China lots of random guys (maybe not random, mostly shop clerks and bartenders) has come up to me to ask me for my cellphone number, but they never call me. I actually wanted Sasha's bartender to call me, he was really cute!!!

Changle Road

Today I went to my favourite street Changle Road, saw many nice things I wanted, but was a good girl. Just ended up with buying this dress. 280 rmb. Those shoes I had bought a week ago for a very good price, can you guess?
After the shopping I went to Simply Thai on Dongping Road/Hengshan Road to have dinner with friends, awesome resturant. The food is absolutely amazing!!! On Mondays they cut 50% off your bill. YAAAAAAY!!! But make sure to call them before and ask for this offer!!!

Eurocup 2008

I know Sweden is out of Eurocup, but still I want to remember everyone's smiles and screams when Sweden won against Greece on 11th June 2008.
I know a Swedish entrepreneur Andreas Larsson here in Shanghai who takes amazing photos, his photos has been published on Shanghaiist a lot. Check here for more of his photos. (The photos of me are not that nice though, hehe, but concerning it was taken at 3 am it's ok + I was still jetlagged)

Finally a real SH night

Finally I really felt I was partying in Shanghai. Last night was great. Went to Cantine (Loft98) for open bar, afterwards to Lounge18. I love that place, all kinds of people; students, old expats, locals, huaqiaos, foreigners, etc. Everyone was dancing and the music was A-W-E-S-O-M-E. Met some people I havent seen for 1-2 years which was really fun. Go to Lounge18 a Friday night and you will experience Shanghais nightlife at its top. I pendled between Lounge18 and Bar Rouge (same building), bored of Bar Rouge, I just like the terrace at BR. Anyway, last night was really fun and I didn't lose my bag :) Although I had only 3 hours of sleep as they are doing some costruction outside my apartment which is really annoying :(   Having a ice cappuchino at Coffeebean at the moment, tonight I think I will go to MAO and M2, looking forward to it :)

PS. I didn't wear the purple dress afterwards because I thought it looked too fancy...but I still wore my Marc by Marc Jacobs heels though ;)  When at Bund...

I think I went into a whorehouse!!!!!

I was desperate to find a place to wash my hair, going to loft98 later tonight and my hair is superdirty. So I run into this place full of girls with skanky clothes and ask them for a hairwash, they even have those chairs where they wash hair so I thought I'd give it a shot. Well inside there they refuse to give my hair a wash and say they only do footmassages, yeah right WHORES!!!

God, my right leg is now has probably about 7 mosquito bites! NASTY!!!!

I have the cutest grandma on earth!

5 days after I arrive in Shanghai:
- Tiaotiao, have you taken a shower since you came to Shanghai?
- Do you know how to use the cellphone XXXXX gave you?
- Don't let strangers follow you home.
- Eat more!!!
- Don't go out at night!

If that's not love, what is love?

Grrrrrrr

Today when I just was on my way to grandma I was enjoying my Pearl Milk Tea and thinking about how funny and great Chinese people are, how much I love China despite the weather and some drivers, just when I was thinking I love China, A CAR ALMOST RAN INTO ME!!!!!!!!! It was green light!!! And I was walking, even together with another person next to me!! It was really close he would hit me, and I get so MAD that I scream (so everyone looks at me and thinks I am being the weirdo), and then I see the driver looking back at me and I point my finger to him, I hope he knows what it means, BASTARD!!!!!!

Now I'm going to enjoy my banana bread from city shop :'(

SHOPPING

I should definitely be more careful about my financial spending....I have 110 left til Saturday til I get my debit card, and that won't be enough concerning I'm going to this goodbye party tomorrow night.
Anyway, today I went to one of my favourite spots - Shaanxi Nan Road to shop, only came back with one purple dress as I didn't have money to buy the rest...the dress I will be wearing tomorrow at the party :)
Am considering to buy the skirt (400 rmb) and the shoes (400rmb) but still not sure.

Sex and the City - the movie

I watched it last night.Eeven with the bad quality of the DVD I enjoyed every single second of that movie. It was extremely good! There were so many funny parts that I laughed out loud, and then in the end I cried sooooooooo much. When she flips through her email and found the letters, Oh My God, I was crying like a baby watching that scene.
This movie is so fantastic and I loved it so much!!! Apart from the movie, I could kill for Carrie Bradshaw's clothes. I wish people would be as daring as her, when I'm 40 I'm going to look just as good as Carrie....with no botox.

Yesterday night was a perfect Wednesday night for me, went to Daniang Shuijiao to eat dumplings at Zhongshan Park, then walked home, grabbing a smoothieshake drink with egg in it!!! (I saw this couple who went there, it was only the girl who bought the drink, but the guy paid for her and it was a natural thing, she didn't even mention anything and just let him take it, OK, it was 4 rmb...but still). Back in the apartment I watched SATC and had a good night sleep ^_^

Food

I am currently sitting on Costa Café on Wujiang Road (What have they done to MY Wujiang Rd??? Now it's some kind of nice cozy luxury sh1tjoint!!! Before it was charming and authentic!! I'm mad). I think after my Shanghaitrip is over I have been to every single coffeeshop offering free wifii in downtown Shanghai, haha.

Here are some of my (lame) food tips for you guys.
  • When you go to Carrefour you can NOT miss the place where you pick your vegetables/tofu/noodle and then some person will mix it for you and add spices and nuts into it. I bought a big bag = 9.80 rmb ^_^
  • When you go to Wagas you have to try their Chicken Blue Cheese salad with pear, sooo yummy! But they COULD slice the lettuce a bit more!!
  • I'm drinking this Mint Vanilla Frescato, 30 rmb for this sh1t!!

Why are Chinese men fat?

I see LOTS of fat Chinese men here in Shanghai. It is a weird sight to me because usually women in general tends to have more bodyfat then men. Men has more muscle mass than women so they usually tend to burn fat faster than women.
I see FAT Chinese men all the time, I mean not chubby but obese Chinese men, whilst it's harder to see obese Chinese women.

My theory is..........as in China people still prefer having a son as their only child they spoil the son soo much with good food and they turn out like this? Or what do you think? You have another theory?

UPDATE: I'm seeing this huge guy eating a big milkshake drink WITH cream and another cake with lots of cream!!! His girlfrind is not too goodlooking but is eating less than him.

Bad news

Sitting in Coffebean by City Plaza, I have missed you, drinking the best Caramel Ice Blended drink (with no cream of course), anyway I'm sitting here trying to figure out which companies to take contact with, but actually I don't even want to bother. I lost my internship because they just suddenly decided to not take in anymore interns...
To be honest, I don't even need this internship as I have quite a lot of working experience already compared to some other students. But still, I'm staying in Shanghai until August, I love shopping, but I DON'T want to spend my time here in Shanghai shopping or partying.
I'm this girl who needs to have something going on, otherwise I feel hopeless AND worthless. I have two monts...maybe I start my own company or something. Hmmm, let me think...with this ice blended drink.
so funny, three swedes were sitting behind me, there are so many Swedes here that I don't even want to bother to say hi.
Photo: My current view from the apartment, you see cloud 9 building?

My aunt is crazy

She just said I look like a 30 year plus old woman who have had 2-3 kids but in fact I'm just 20. CRAZY. She hates the way I dress, and keep saying that I should dress like her daughter, my cousin. And wear backpacks. She says people who wear handbags are people who have had kids.
ROFL LMAO. This woman is crazy, thank god I'm moving tomorrow to another place for 1-2 week, then it's back to this place eugh.....
I'm generalizing now, but it seems that most Chinese people have no sense of sympathy or understanding for other cultures, they might be interested in it but they don't understand or ACCEPT other people's values. Like me, I can understand why Chinese people do certain things which I find very unusual, but I think..well, they have been living in a country where it's normal to do so for their whole life, of course this is normal to them. But, my aunt just can't understand that I have lived in Sweden all my life and don't want to dress like some 7 years old schoolgirl anymore. She doesn't understand that clothes represent a personality, she just thinks it's clothes.... And I understand that she thinks I'm like that, but what I cannot accept is that she is making around 30 comments a day about me on that certain issue.
GAAAAAAAAH, I'm getting crazy. She seriusly gets on my nerves, I need to vent!!!

Interesting people

What I like so much about Shanghai is that you will meet so many fascinating people here. I have been here for exactly one week now and I have already met some very cool people. Brave people who have suddenly decided to give China a chance, or people with very interesting backgrounds ( for an example, a furniture and interior designer who has chinese blood but born in another asian country and whom her parents also are born in other asian countries, a fashiondesigner for a brand in the mall next to Taiping yang on huaihai road, a countryside girl who is working at the local hair salon, etc.)
I love China :) Today has been a lazy day, walked between banks to get a new debitcard, also I had the time to go to Zhongshan Park again, bought an iPod shuffle, I can't survive without mp3 player. I seriously spend too much time in that area. Tomorrow going to my treasurecave - Nanjing Xi Road 580 ;)
Picture: Spinning class teacher's name is Handsome, yesterday at the gym this personal trainer walked up to me and told me he recognized me from last summer when I was at another gym MOB, he said my eyes were special. lol

DAMN DAMN DAMN
I went to Bonbon last night with a clutch, so I had my wallet with all cards (debit cards, gym card, spa card, traffic card etc.) WHOLY CRAP, I might even have my Swedish credit card in there!!!!!!!!!!! shit shit shit. My mp3 player was also in there, and my keys. ALL GONE.
Thank god I have my cellphone left...
Yesterday night I went to Constellation Bar on Xinle Road, a very nice bar (reminds me of old Shanghai), they are famous for their coctails. Later on I went to bonbon, the place to either love or hate (I haven't decided yet where I stand). I didn't even made it to the main floor, I was just by the stairs...DAMN

One hour massage

Yesterday I went to Yongqi to do a one-hour-massage. It was soo funny, first the girl asked me where I was from, I said I'm from dongbei (northeast) and she asked what place, I said Dalian, she didn't believe me. Then later when she was massaging my left arm she said in a such a surprising way: Waaaah, you have so much meat (fat)!!
Thanks... :'(

Later she asked me why I wore all black, and I told her because I wanted to look slimmer, she laughed and then she thought my leggings/tights were really funny and thought I was a gym instructor. She also kept saying I looked so young but still mature, haha. Now this is what makes my Shanghai trip fun and interesting :)

New friends

In one week I have made two local friends :D
One friend I met the first day in shanghai, when I went to the hair salon I made friends with the girl who washed my hair, we went out shopping yesterday together with another girl who works at that hair salon. Now I don't want to go that hair salon anymore because I don't want to get served by my friends.
Today I went to do a manicure and the girl who was before me lived in the same building as me, so we walked home together and exchanged numbers, so soon we will go out shopping some day :) Amazingly easy huh?

Best place in Shanghai

The BEST place for girls and women here in Shanghai is not the spas, nor the clubs where they have ladies nights. I think it is Zhong Shan Park's metrostation. Go ahead to exit 4-6, you will be walking under a white tunnel, keep walking til you find lots of small shops. You will find really really nice shoes for under 100 rmb and some very fashionable clothes, you need to search! Also besides all these cool female clothing shops, there are also smoothie bars, dim sum bars, sushi bars, etc and for a very good price. I ordered a mango and carrot smoothie for 8 rmb, and you see them making it. And if you wanted manicure you can get that as well for a good price.
I actually don't want to tell you foreigners about this place because if you all go there, they will start rising the prices on there which they have already done a bit. Today I bought one starpatterned dress, a silver jumperdress (looks like stella mccartney) and a pair of black ballerinashoes, 200 rmb for everything!!! I cannot upload pics from my computer atm, but they will come later)

How crazy is this!?

I'm sitting at Blue frog on tongren road with my macbook and a guy comes up to me and ask if I'm Shopgirl, haha.
I'm drinking happy hour white wine for 25 rmb! This is great!

GYM

Because my cousin's wife works in Jinmao building, I don't need to pay for a gym membership :) I will gym at Will's Gym in both Jinmao building and the Zhongshan Park area.
I'm sitting at the Jinmao branch right now and it's niiiiiiiiiiice. How will I ever adjust to my old gym in Stockholm? The machines here are all very new and hi-tech. It's also much easier to run on those threadmills than the ones I run on in Stockholm. And they have those face machines in the changing rooms, I'm very excited about those. They have EVERYTHING here, all the machines you can think of! I love this :) after checking the free internet a bit I'm going to walk a bit (after the bacon foccacia I had at jamaicablue), and then I will go to ABT, Bodyjam and Bodycombat class. I'm very curious how they will teach it here. Earlier today I went to a woman's bodyshape class, basically it was some kind of ballet-dance, I felt like a big cow on a rope. Never going to that class anymore, haha. The trainer was sooooooooo skinny and despite her age (40?) she looked really really beautiful. Let's hope I will when I'm 40.
Later tonight I will watch when Sweden plays against Greece in big bamboo, althought it starts really late, and I dont really think my jetlag is over yet.

Stressful Sunday

Well, I wouldn't call it stressful but I did a lot yesterday! Day started with my aunt taking me and my cousin out for breakfast (more like lunch) in our neighbourhood, finally I had Mandarin Fish and my favourite dish, corn cake!!! After the breakfast I went out with my other aunt to shopping, we were shopping along the walking path to Zhongshan Park, we separated there. I checked out Will's gym to see how the facility look like, pretty good actually. Think I will join that gym. I later went with the metro to Huaihai Road, checked out some stores and then later went to visit California Fitness, cool gym but too expensive, and the location is not that great concerning my route to and from internship this summer. My dinner consisted of this small pie from McDonalds, supergood!! The McDonalds here in China is MUCH better than the Swedish one, both more well-prepared and better quality. Yum!!! The day ended with me buying a pair of cool Nike gym pants and a men's Tshirt from Uniqlo (Henru Chu design). Later in the evening, I went to Captain Hostel to see one of my good friends who lives here but will leave in 2 weeks :( later we went to Lounge 18, pretty nice and soft, love the decor and they know how to make good drinks compared to Captain Hostel. The Campari Orange in CH is absolutely worthless, although Lounge 18 didn't make the caprinia the way I really like it, but at least they put lots of alcohol in it. After Lounge 18 we took the elevator to Bar Rouge, I think it was a White and Yellow trash party going on there, don't go there on Sundays. After 10 minutes we left for Logo, much more ppl there, some kind of reggae night. Then sleep.

I love Chinese Starbucks

Yes, I really do. Some people may find them way too ON, asking you questions, bothering you with all the choices. Yes, they do, but so what?
I'm sitting in Starbucks right now, and I just got free sample drinks of their new chocolate frappucchino (it's good) and sample o their new lemon coco cake (not very good), and they just came and ask me for feedback. I said the drink was very good, and the girl was like: Ohhh, take more, we have more and smiled sooo much.

Such a sweet girl :-D

I just got a massage and a new haircut, I love my new haircut, I look like a tall Japanese girl now ^_^ I'm so happy being in Shanghai

Cognitive therapy

"I'm a kind and sweet person"
"I'm a fun person"
"I'm intelligent and very ambitious"
"I'm going to have a successful future"
"I'm a lucky girl and I appreciate it"

We had an interesting discussion today in our corridor, we came to the conclusion that Cognitive Therapy is the way to deal with depression, whenever I feel things are not going my way, I will look in the mirror and say those things, it sounds silly but it does work. Cognitive therapy makes a change in your life compared to Freud's theory which is about analyzing why you are feeling the way you do. I think it's better to work with cognitive therapy and do something about it! Those sentences above is actually sentences I would say and mean it. Those are the things I'm proud of.
