Stop telling me what to eat!!!

I got this new dormmate, a Swedish Palestinian guy, let's say he is well built *cough* fat. So is his girlfriend, and I'm not talking about chubby/fat but REAL fat.
Several days I have been eating 2 meatballs, etc. Once I heated 1 meatball in the microwave and he saw it. He laughed which is ok, it is pretty funny. I'm not talking about those big meatballs, but those really tiny ones.
They saw me buying Diet Coke (why should I drink regular Coke that create stains on teeth when I can drink Diet Coke that has no calories and create NO stains???).
Then today, they saw me eat a small portion of food, and the girl asked me in an arrogant voice, do you eat 5 plates of that or do you just eat that??? And I answered her, well, maybe 2 of those plates everyday but then again I eat about 150 g of chocolate everyday. And she was like, you should eat real food (which is true, but anyway). And I both found it humorous and irritating, so is it healthy for her to eat 2 pieces of white bread with jam AFTER an already big dinner?
If I was a real bitch, I would say: Ehmm, should I be taking food advices from someone like you who looks like you will suffer from diabetes in 5 years?
They probably think I have some kind of eating disorder but they just don't know that I'm snacking ALL the time which I really need to stop doing because these last days I have noticed that I'm getting sloppier and with this weather I just have NO energy to go working out.
Please give me tips on how to get back on track again.

It is a little ridiculous just eating one tiny meatball!!! was it a snack?

its still ridiculous if you are eating just 2 meatballs as a meal.

Firstly you are not getting enough vitamins and nutrients. Yes you are getting some protein which is vital for energy but you cant just have it alone.

If you eat a more balanced diet im sure youll find that you have more energy to do things. As a couple of meatballs and some chocolate a day will NOT be giving you the energy you need.

atm im eating lots. i find eating whatever you want but in smaller portions is better. i eat 4 times a day sometimes 5.

a usual meal consists of veg, some form of carb whether its bread, rice, noodle etc... and some meat. The carb should make up the smaller percentage of the plate. The veg making up the majority of the plate.

good tip: dont eat till you feel full. If you feel full it actually means you have eaten to much. Just eat till you are comfortable.

i dont drink fizzy drinks often at all so when i do i do it properly.

Shopgirl - Diet Coke is disgusting, but it contains the artificial sweetener aspartame which has been widely acknowledged to be linked to very serious conditions as well as cancer. If you must drink Coke, I suggest the regular variant. If you're eating chocolate everyday I doubt the diet Coke is gonna really make much impact anyway.

Don't call people "who looks like you will suffer from diabetes in 5 years". My dad has it for years and he looks so skinny that I feel tears in my eyes every time I see him!!!

Well, I don't feel much taking advise from overweight people but still I don't freaking eat 2 Swedish meatballs as a meal...Swedish meatballs are the best I know and if I am taking any as snack it would be 5+chili sauce. Still my figure doesn't change as long as I don't eat after 8 pm and no big portions during the day. Diet Cock is a piece of crap, so cut it, drink water and tea. Calcium and vitamin are very important as well.

but Diet Coke is only bad for you when you drink A LOT of it, which I don't.
I dont drink Coke zero, because THAT contains stuff that is bad for you even in small amount, but in diet coke it's what, sucralose? that you can eat in ok amounts.

anyway, i HAVE TO eat after 8pm, i go to bed about 2 am so i get really hungry if i dont eat before.
i know its ridiculous eating 1 meatball but the thing is that I eat a meatball even when im not hungry..

Your diet sounds really weird. Why don't u just eat like a normal person instead of making it so complicated? Eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and have some snacks (or meatballs) in between so that u r not starving... it's not that complicated?! I don't understand people that complain and complain about them not being in shape or being to fat or being this or that and then they are following some strange sort of special diet where u can eat a lot of some things and nothing of other things... who can be bothered with that shit, really?!

I have never been too skinny and never been chubby but always 'normal' or in between. It's not that complex u know. U just have to make sure u move about 30 min -1 hour /day (something that shouldn't be that hard...) and eat normal amounts of normal food. Not just meat/veggies/carbs/candy/chocolate/meatballs/diet coke.. use your common sense and u should b able to do it. It amazes me how people can just eat SHIT (like do u think 150 grams of chocolate every day is good for you??) and then write and wonder 'why am I putting on weight'?? Eat normal food and stop thinking so much about this and that. As long as u r not sitting on your ass all day you should be fine. You're a young lady, not an old fart.

As long as the 1 - 2 meatball isn't your regular meal, just a snack, right?

I do that to.

I snack on slices of cheese, or reheated leftover veggies lol.

It's okay to eat small portions, as long as it's 5 times a day.

Your fat roommate doesn't seem to know much about eating anyways, so don't listen to her.

i remember my friend telling me that diet coke and coke zero are exactly the same? im not entirely sure if this is true but they checked the ingredients on the can and they were identical.

they were just doing a new marketing ploy apparently.

I sometimes drink diet coke. I personally don't like pop, but if I feel like drinking something flavorful at night, I'll drink that, which won't make me fat, since sugary drinks before bed make you accumulate fat while sleeping.

I've tried coke zero, and it tastes way grosser than diet coke.

There MUST be something different with the ingredients.

There are many diets around...I am sure you can Google "diet" and there will be a million different ideas.

Pretty much the best thing to do, like the previous posters stated, eat 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) with snacks between each meal. This way you will keep your metabolism up, which in turn burns more calories.

Yeah make sure to do some type of workout, whether going to the gym or walking...etc... Or if it doesn't break your bank, get enough sleep and don't drink too much, clubbing is a very good form of cardio, with the exception of breathing in smoke.

Some advice, try to eat more fruits, vegetables, and complex carbs.

As tips to get back into shape...

Take a picture of your dormmate with his girlfriend or just his girlfriend and post in on the wall or on your cell phone.

That way every time you work out you can take a look at them to get some motivation. Be careful they don't find out...from your post if they do find out, they will probably think you have some sort of interest in them.

At the risk of showing my American roots.. Diet Coke is supposed to taste like something different than regular Coca-Cola, it was later the basis for the failed non-diet "New Coke" drink (Though I'm not old enough to rember this, but I do remember Crystal Pepsi for my meiguo comardes out there).
Coca-Cola Zero is supposed to be a diet version of the regular Coke aka tasting more like Coca-Cola Classic.
I like it much better that Diet Coke, but then again I never though too much about the health aspects, or what fake sweetner is used. I'm guilty of not living the healthiest life, but I try... Is it better to mix Coke Zero with alcohol than regular Coke?? gotta be better, right? :)

I rarely drink coke or soft drinks but when I do I drink them I choose Diet Coke for the main reason that it tastes better and doesn't make your teeth feel yuk because of the huge amount of sugar.

-Try buying a bike and cycle to college.

-100% agree with the comment of using another 'out of shape' person as motivation. In china, i used to know a laowai who ate crisps and xiangchang whenever I saw her...now I am pretty much allergic to those foods because I just think of her when I think of eating them.

If you drink coffee/tea don't add sugar. Trust me you won't notice the lack of sugar after a week.

Don't eat carbs for dinner. Eat meat,vegetables,salad,beans or an omelette

If you get pangs for sugary foods like chocolate eat sweet snacks like fruit pieces( I like pineapple) or granola bars or a smoothie

Do simple stretches before you go to bed

i googled for the difference between diet coke , coke and zero. this is what i found.

Hot on the heels of Diet Coke With Splenda comes Coca-Cola Zero. Coke Zero is sweetened with aspartame and acesulfame potassium (ace-k) and has zero calories. The only chemical difference between Coke Zero and Diet Coke is that Coke Zero has about half the aspartame but has more ace-k.

Confused anyone? It's a marketing thing - Coke have manufactured a "diet" coke without using the word diet... which in their eyes will appeal to a different demographic.

Makes sense to me. Diet coke is seen to be a girls drink so they decided to make this "new" coke and market it towards males.

I think marketing is fascinating.

ie. Breakfast used to be left overs from the night before untill the 1940s when cereal companies started advertising the concept of having a completely different meal in the morning.

and Coca Cola definitely help shape the way we think Santa Clause looks today.

also not only do i hate the taste of diet coke or any diet drinks.... they are diet as fake sweeteners are put in them. which another poster has pointed out are linked to cancer and are bad for your liver.

i dont mind taking in a few more calories if it will lessen my chances of cancer and making my liver sad.

Okay whatever, Diet Coke and Coke Zero are a bit different anyways, and taste way different in my opinion.

Fake sugar can definitely be cancerous, but so can sausages, canned food, cigarettes, etc.

Plus, Regular Coke is made with REFINED sugars, which are just as bad and f*ck up your internal organs and teeth.

And anyways, theothergirl is lighter because she's shorter. There isn't much of a difference in overall body proportions.

And Shopgirl, not all fat people drink Regular Coke. I've seen people in restaurants, really obese ones, ordering a large hamburger, large fries, etc and a diet coke.

So, if you want to truly make the consumption of diet coke viable, you have to rid your diet of other refined sugars such as chocolates, sweets, cakes, etc.

I like eating those large hamburgers, large fries and a diet coke and steaks and so on always in life, but I also always try to eat fruits at same time, I like apples,watermelons,Pears,pineapples and kiwifruits, I especially like pears and watermelon and kiwifruits a lot, caust it can help me to get rif of the fat and makes me slim or thin by its healthy Vitamin C and
orangeade or lemonade or something like that from those fruits, so I am now much thinner than last winter and I will keep fit by eating those fruits from now to the summer of 2009.

Hi! try throwing up after you eat. It helps. sometimes you only lose water weight but you have to stick with it. it's incremental lose.
Also, take a shower if you feel like eating. or chew gum!
