I'm so blessed
Recently I have been thinking a lot about my life, what if I never ended up in a small town in Sweden? What if I always lived and got raised in mainland China? I wonder what kind of person I would be at this moment? Isn't it amazing how a human being's destiny can change like that in one night, for me it was obviously that day I landed in Sweden for the first time.
What if I was raised in Stockholm instead of a small town? Would I be isolated within the Chinese community?
I just feel so blessed. I hope that I was lucky to come to a small idyllic Swedish town where I grew up with no other but just native Swedes. And the best of all, I did actually end up in Sweden of all countries in the world where even higher education is for free, I even receive money from the government because I'm a student. Isn't it amazing? I happen to end up in a country where the population is one of the best non-english speaking country who speaks best english (second place after the Netherlands).
And for some reason, I don't dare to believe if it's luck or destiny.
I am so lucky that I have had the chance to experience so much in life, having been explored to so many different cultures and lifestyles. WOW. Thinking about it makes me shiver. I'm so truly blessed. We are studying probability theory at the moment, and I'm thinking, what if the dice was thrown in another way, just 0.0000001 second faster, If so I would still be in China not knowing much about rest of the world, and maybe still a bit afraid and shy seeing a whitey on the street?

Your education isn't "free". The people of Sweden are taxed quite heavily in order to provide all those "free" things for you.
did you move to sweden by yourself? or with your family?
nice one shopgirl
you are a smart gal no matter what some of the other commentors say
the education is FREE, the lowest tax rate is 30%, yes it's high, but in some other countries you also have to pay about 20% tax, just a 10% difference. it is nothing compared of what you get back.
But yes, it does hurt that end of your month you only get so much in net because you paid 1/3 in tax.
i did not move to sweden alone, it was like 17 years ago i moved to sweden. and im soon 21
I agree with you, it IS a blessing to be born in a "wellbeing" society. In Finland, where I live, we also have free education (also for foreign students). We also have one of the world's highest tax rates, I believe now it's around 40%.
I really like your postings, they always make me smile! Have a nice weekend!
:)
you know a lot of my close friends are from finland :)
Yeah you are truly lucky. We have to pay a lot of money to go to school here in Mexico.
And you're very lucky your family gave you the opportunity to live in Sweden instead of Shanghai.
How did that happen anyways? You've never told me your story... I think. You can tell me later in person. :P
ida: absolut! Så glad att jag hamnade i Lindesberg istället för en storstad.
monxi: my dad got a job in a bigger city nearby as university lecturer, and then we just ended up staying here.
Ahh, probablity theory, with or without calculus?
Anyway, you are lucky. We're all lucky. But life is also what you make of it, it's 10% circumstances and 90% mind-set. Perhaps that is a bit naive, but who's making the rules?
Keep being you... I guess.
