I broke the clothing rule
Remember I wore the clothes I wore from last night to office yesterday (it was the dress I bought on changle road striped one). And later that evening I receive a text message from my cousin saying that my groupleader at work told my colleague who knows my cousin that I cannot wear that kind of "sexy" clothes to the office. Group Leader ---> Colleague ---> My cousin ---> Me
instead of Group Leader (who sits next to me) ---> Me
and then another text message came up saying, When the guys at the workplace see you with not much on they cannot concentrate on working, which was even more embarassing. So I texted back to my cousin saying I would dress like a nun today. I'm wearing tshirt and shorts now.
The dress does not look very "sexy" here but it is low cut on the back and shows quite much from the side.

in England we would call that a "Greyhound dress"

Shopgirl only last Friday I wrote how Chinese people dress totally inappropriately for office and it looks like you're more Chinese than you realise! Why on earth would you wear the same dress the next day? Again, only Chinese people do that. In Beijing some colleagues would wear the same outfit for an entire week.
Come on, it's not THAT short...
you should see it from the back, it shows the whole back almost also on the sides, esp when I dont wear a bra wearing that dress (which I didnt do at work).
shit
Woai: ehmm, let's just say Wednesday was a late night...
I'd like to think mistakes like that happen to everyone once and awhile. At least you learned from it.
J.
trust me, from wednesday night i learned quite a lot!!!
I have a lot of experience here with that office behaviour (your group leader telling your cousin etc). You have to talk to him/her about it as soon as you can. Don't worry if your new or whatever, just tell them it's out of line. If you don't it'll just keep happening. Treat it the same as if it happened in Sweden, talk directly first, and if that is met with attitude, go to their manager.
What? It is out of line her manager complains about her overly sexy dress? Nonsense. It just followed a Chinese path of least resistance/loss of face, thats all.
The dress is inapropriate! I sure find it sexy, sure girls in my office can dress that way and even less but I am the big boss I decide. Siyan's boss may have another view.
I think its alright, just dress more formally, like other girls at work, thats all. End of story.
tbh that dress really is not office attire. im not sure t shirt and shorts is especially if the t shirt is tight.
if you want to wear shorts then where a shirt on top or a casual smart top. shorts shouldnt be too short either.
Let's be honest here, the group leader she's talking about is probably a Chinese guy, and not a very attractive one at that. Otherwise he'd have the balls to actually confront her in person.
Or perhaps he's just trying to hit on her using that old playground chesnut.
I think it was the woman who complained, im not entirely sure.
anyway, i know it was not proper office attire, but i had no time to go back home and change outfit! So I took a chance.
the girls in our office are very casual, they even wear flipflops to work... so what I wore today was proper :)
@Moi
No, not the dress code issue, the getting the family member to tell her. It doesn't matter how you interpret the reasons for it, it's bad and can be stopped by simply face to face talking.
It sounds like you need to have the guy who took you home wake you earlier next time, so you'll have time to get home and change clothes prior to work.
Well... den är grymt jävla sexig, så är det bara!
