Why are Chinese men fat?
I see LOTS of fat Chinese men here in Shanghai. It is a weird sight to me because usually women in general tends to have more bodyfat then men. Men has more muscle mass than women so they usually tend to burn fat faster than women.
I see FAT Chinese men all the time, I mean not chubby but obese Chinese men, whilst it's harder to see obese Chinese women.
My theory is..........as in China people still prefer having a son as their only child they spoil the son soo much with good food and they turn out like this? Or what do you think? You have another theory?
UPDATE: I'm seeing this huge guy eating a big milkshake drink WITH cream and another cake with lots of cream!!! His girlfrind is not too goodlooking but is eating less than him.

In more modern cities like Shanghai the old way of thinking boy > girl is dying.
a lot of families prefer having a girl nowadays. They are less hassle and can bring money into the family through marriage.
Having a son comes a lot of responsibility. Property in Shanghai is not easy to come by if you are the common Shanghainese family and with less women who have extremely high standards and wanting husbands who can look after them and their family. A lot of Shanghainese families feel the need to be able to buy their son an apartment.
Unless their sons are extremely capable and can bring in lots of money, a girl seems like a good idea.
oh and regards to your noticing of obese men. Maybe girls just have a lot of pressure to look good.
from what ive seen looks and age arent part of the equation when chinese girls are looking for a partner.
One thing I notice is that high school children in their baggy sweatshirts and sweatpants are quite chubby. Wearing the ugly uniforms allows them to get away with being a little overweight. This is my Ugly Clothes theory.
I also blame McDonald's for going into China..
fat = wealth back in the day no? are u into fat men? does it turn you on? would be kinda weird to be with a scrawny man of your body shape? i heard some men are so fat, they look down and can't see over their belly! so you know what that means? they can't see their own ****. you guessed it, their feet!
Completely wrong, Shanghainese families prefer to have girls as a child, because they don't have to work as hard in the future, since they don't have to "provide" as the typical "men provide the housing, financial buffer in the marriage", the reason why there are more obese or overweight men then women here in Shanghai or in China overall is because it is a better proportion, as well as before, it is common that a Shanghainese couple, the man should be overweight as it is a tradition/culture. Can take this to the bank as I've experienced this first hand as well as heard it from others. It's just the culture here, plain and simple. Hope this sheds some light.
It's probably from all the beer they drink.
How often do you see Chinese men out jogging ? The fat dudes you see are mostly middle aged, right ? They grown up during the hungry decades - 50,60,70. Most didn't have enough to eat, much less getting fat in their youth. They got fat during the decades after, when they were eating to catch up for lost time.
The women are getting bigger over here too.. Maybe it's not as visable seeing they often have very small hips.
My old Chinese boss (from Beijing) used to tell me that the busier and more successful he got (with his work) the less time he had to move, the more fancy dinners he ate, and the fatter he got. I told him to take up running but he just laughed at me.
"Running is for young people. I'll do some taiji".

Therer are many fat men working out at my gym though. Kind of funny to see because it is as if the doc told them to do somehting about their belly and they turn up every day to walk on the treadmill.
Cuz man are from mars and women are from venus... duh..
It's probably because men aren't that concerned about their looks as much as women.
It's probably because they're already married so why should they give a toss!

no one ever thinks they have it all. most people make drama in their life, it takes are very well rounded person to appreciate what they have to a full extent.
I think it's because a lot of chinese girls are afraid of getting chubby. Most of the chinese girls are around 45 - 50 kg. That's way too thin! And they still want to lose weight. I know a girl, she had no bozem and no belly, really nothing! She wanted to lose weight and she nearly ate. I thought she was a walking skeleton or something like that. The guys in China just don't care about their weight. The food is really cheap and you can find food everywhere. It's usual for them to eat all that fatty food outside, because lots of guys can't cook!
