Shanghai Coffee

Starbucks, Coffeebean, Costa, Jamaicain, UBC...can you come up with any more big coffeechains?
It's amazing how all those big coffee chains are profiting from setting up their businesses in China. Considering a coffee is around 25 rmb, which is expensive! For 25 rmb you can buy 10 Coke bottles! In Sweden one Coke bottle is around 12sek (12 rmb), so 12 multiplied with 10 is 120.....the real price of a Starbucks coffee is 120 rmb!!!!! Ding dong surprise!!!!
Personally I prefer Coffeebean and Costa, Starbucks is so overexposed that I'm bored now. I have never tried Jamaicain but I have heard good things about it. Being honest I don't even drink coffee in a regular basis, if I'm drinking coffee I want to pose :)
I just heard that Jamaicain has just opened up on 5th floor in Citiq Square on Nanjing Xi Road. I'm glad because usually Jamaicain hasn't been available for me as I tend to hang out in very central areas in Shanghai. But it can't be more central than Citiq Square!!!! Just next to plaza66! YAY.

I think your last sentence says it all. People want to be seen at these places so they have been very successful. It's the same here in Bangkok at least.
Nice blog by the way.
I'm not much of a coffee drinker either, it gets me really shaky (literally, I am shaking, it is creepy). I am super alert though, and I think might brain might process faster when I'm on it...
Starbucks here is $3-5 depending on what you get, so it's not that bad if you are addicted.
I have quit to starbucks for 2 years, I like juice much than that~~~
I dislike the coffee. The taste is foul and the smell... Well, I can't find the words to describe how much I hate it. I'm not sure if it's the custom in other countries, but here in the UK, people brew coffee when they are selling their homes and want to make them to appear more comfortable and homely. Nothing makes me turn around and leave a place faster than this - the smell makes me feel extremely sickly.
I don't think I could bear the smell in those coffee places long enough to pose.
I like the coffee shop at the top of the steps at the mall in Xujiahui. Good perch to watch from. The staff is friendly. Plus, the espresso is quite tasty. I'm glad to see that you didn't stop blogging for too long.
will lewis - I think that's costa you're talking about?
anyhow, I hate to drink pure coffee, but a latte is nice sometimes. I also love Ice coffees. Tim Horton's iced cappuchino is D-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s!!!
