BAD (Chinese) TEACHER

I can't believe what just happened...
As you might know I'm currently doing a double degree, one in business economics, and one in Chinese. As I'm focusing on my Business degree I don't usually go to my Chinese classes.
I have been allowed by the teachers to only do the tests and homework in order to pass that Chinese programme. So last week I went to talk to one of my teachers, a Chinese teacher who is working here temporarily, she will soon leave Sweden.
Anyhow we agreed to meet up today so that I could prove her my Chinese oral skills. So, I take my 5kg's heavy books in my bag and go to school in this -1 celsius degree weather. When I'm there I'm waiting and waiting. She's oviously not there as I knocked on her door.

So I take contact with another teacher in the building and ask for her, the teacher calls her up, and WHAT DOES IT TURN OUT??  She's AT HOME!!!!!!!!!
She had forgotten or just didn't bother to see me, so she left her job earlier!!!!!! What a twit!!!!!
And she told the teacher that we would agree to another date where I could do this test. WHAT!!!??? Couldn't she just right there right now just tell me another date? She will probably never take contact with me (BECAUSE she didn't before when she was supposed to!!!)

WHAT A BLOODY BAD TEACHER, you don't do that to your students! Talking about being irresponsible and unorganized. Thank god she'll leave Sweden soon because we really don't need teachers like her (thank god for free speech in this country). But I NEED to pass that course, what the hell. These things makes me SUPERMAD!!! A Swedish uni-teacher would NEVER do that to their students when they had personally agreed to a time to meet up during his/her working hours. He/she would get a BIG warning for doing so!

I'm pissed.

You should show more respects for your seniors and teachers! Your comments are not very chinese... I know that in Sweden students do whatever they want and teachers have to be nice - no bad grades, easy exams, etc to avoir psychological trauma...

Anon,

SHUT THE F*** UP. Wake the f*** up with your stupid nationalism. Chinese universities are not even ranked among the top 100 universities in the WORLD. What does that say about Chinese universities? Sheesh. Typical Chinese nationalistic brain-washed drone. BTW, I'm f***in Chinese (overseas, whatever you want to call it), but I'm not a brain-washed drone, I refuse to be one.

I agree that ultimately one is responsible for their own actions, but there should be respect in both directions. College teachers should strive to be professional in their action, and not showing up to an appointment is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Even if they cannot make it to an appointment, they should at least have contacted her before the meeting to reschedule, that's just common sense.

With that said, I do think this Chinese teacher is not really a qualified professor, he/she is just someone they hired to teach Chinese, because they do this at my university.

As for double degrees, Siyan, I too have a double degree, my advice is just to take it slow and not have too many on your plates at once, in the end you will be grateful because your grades will be higher this way. Just a suggestion.

that's true.. she is being PAID to be a teacher at that UNI and has the obligation to respond to her students. She is an irresponsible person and should fix her teaching habits.

I used to have this horrible world religions teacher back in high school who would sit in class, go through her email and chat on msn messenger, while she had us read the book and answer the questions from the end of the chapters.

We complained to the school admins and they had her fired at the end of the school year.

She is not a real teacher. There is a difference in being able to read, write and speak Chinese and being able to teach it.

Sorry to see all these people posting all this BS on your blog. Anyway, I'm just wondering if this teacher was from the famous "Confucius Institute"? That institute reports to the Chinese embassy and not to the Swedish government, so don't be surprised if their teachers don't behave like responsible university teachers.
