Laowais are starting to get bad reputations.....

Recently I've heard lots of bad stuff about them. Just at lunchtime our office's receptionist said, there are soooo many sleazy laowais in Attica, one flirted with my friend and asked if she wanted anything from the bar. The girl said water, and the laowai went and came back saying: Water here are 45 kuai, I won't get it.
And our receptionist who was standing there together with her friend had said: Fuck off!

ROFL LMAO, this makes me laugh.

Lol, what a cheap bastard, try to pick up a chic and don't even want to spend 5 US dollars (!?).

However, it better be a damn good bottle of water for 45 kuai.

It's Evian water bottle.

What a cheapskate, unfortunately there are lots of wannabe pretentious people in Attica

Wow.

I can't believe that Laowai did that. I'd be embarrassed to offer then not be able to afford. And he's just being cheap! No class...what a shame!

hey I was just surfing the web, find by luck your blog and started reading it for a while. I really like it in fact, but I really can't understand your fascination for Shanghai...

I spent 4 months there, I liked it the first 2 months, the third just so so and the fourth month I moved to Suzhou and deeply fall in love with this city, "the most beautiful in China"... Since then I really hate Shanghai, this city is full of laowai as you say, but it's true most of the laowai in Shanghai are just there hoping to find a good job with a high salary and enjoy "shanghainese chicks" without any interest for China or Chinese culture...

I never went back accept to catch a plane or a train... One expat I know, living in China for 10 years now, once told me "if you like China, you don't like Shanghai".

I'm just trying to understand, did you go to some other cities in China?

That would probably be me then. Sorry, for spitting on your clean streets and creating chaos in your otherwise flawlessly ordered traffic.

I see, well Shanghai is still a good place to make a first experience in China and if your family is native from there, I can understand :)

Oh I forgot, we are a bit the same haha, I also grew up in Scandinavia
