5 Spots to Avoid in SH

Shanghai might be full of great places but there are some places to avoid...

1. First part of Tongren Road (the part close to Yan An Road), the only good place there is City Diner, otherwise it is full of shabby places with prostitutes standing outside the clubs

2. G+, why go to G+ in Xintiandi when you have Babyface? G+ is a smaller version of Babyface with boring people. Although on Wednesdays you can get 3 free drinks before 11pm, just tell them that you heard about Mirage.

3. Carrefour on weekends (if you don't want to come out of the place being mental)

4. Zapatas (which I HAVE avoided, their Wednesdays are just bad bad bad, I know lots of students who go there and love it, I wonder why? The place is full of 50+ German bald expats with beerbelly trying to score with young asians.)

5. Pudong (Tell me which places to go there except for Science and Tech station, Lujiazui or Babaiban?)

About Pudong, what not try Jinqiao or Thumb Plaza? The Zhangjiang subway station has some good restaurants that are worth visiting.

As someone who lived in Pudong I would have said "can get that in Pudong too" when somebody pointed out something in Puxi.
It just depends on where you live. I would always prefer Pudong as it's greener and less noisy and much less crowded - this way you can live longer. :-)

I also think Zapata's sucks. It's full of young asians trying to score with 50 year Germans who just want to have a quiet drink and work on their beer gut.

In Pudong you can also go to Century Park, the biggest in Shanghai.

It's so great to go there a sunday after a party weekend... You buy some food&drinks, some books, bring your MP3 and then find a spot near the lake with shadow, and lie down between the trees on the grass, rest and relax the whole day... It's not crowed like Dino beach...

It's just soooooo good to go there during summertime, specially when you tired of Shanghai heavy pollution because this is the only place I know in Shanghai where you can actually smell the nature and breath some "fresh air".

It is so much better living in Pudong (I live in front of Thumb Plaza) than in Puxi that i wouldn't know where to start. The main difference for me is the green open spaces, neat, not so crowded, new, fresh. I call Puxi "the dark side" comparing it to Pudong. I used to live in Xujiahui for 3 years,...and then i bought a house here..and never looked back.
If you want the hottest places for clubbing, just pick a taxi or drive your car to Puxi, then come back to Pudong to live your life. I saw in one of your post that you say that Shanghai is bad for you and it probably has to do with you being in Puxi

Pudong is a lot better than Puxi. If you like to party and be a play girl I guess puxi is for you. But for mature people Pudong is the place
