Those girls in the department store who tries to sell makeup are really not giving other women any good inspiration. Their faces look like fake dolls where they have been playing with the makeup palette, first of all it doesn't look natural, second of all it looks quite scary, third it just looks extremely artificial. They give brands such as Lancome and Bobbi Brown bad names.

They give brands such as Lancome and Bobbi Brown bad names.However they don't need to be as boring as me just using black eye shadow, but they don't have to wear 3 shadows lighter foundation so they look like they just woke up from dead, or wear green neon eyeshadow up to their brows. That's not flattering.
I hope VOGUE has enough power to influence Chinese girls that whitening creams sucks and probably doesn't work. I saw a big article in Chinese VOGUE about tanning lotions, so there are definitely improvements.

i like chinese women with lots of make up. they look like/are hookers :D.
most of them are pretty in the dark (clubs)..comes out nice :)

Your comments on Chinese girls' appearance are rather mean, no wonder Shanghai people are fed up with laowais like you despite your chinese origin. you can never deny your life here is pleasant but you still criticise a lot. Meanwhile, to the Chinese u can never be pretty neither whatever you wear because of your long nose. Plus your eyebrows look like 2 worms. Sorry to tell the truth and happy for u living in Sweden where people don't understand what real Asian Beauty is.

You know what? You're right. People fit in different kind of make up, but I do think that those girls I have seen with this kind of extreme make up doesnt fit in it.
I dont like the clown look make up neither. you can give your opinion, but dont think your western esthetic value is superior or it's the only standard in the world, Your educator's manner is not appreciated. Why tan coloured skin is more beautiful only because white people like it?
actually pale skin is also popular in some western cultures, for example atm places like New York prefer whiter skin, where as somewhere like LA its all about being golden.
However i agree with anonymous, shopgirl is being somewhat ignorant and clueless. If everyone dressed the same way, used the same amount of makeup then the world would be boring.
I know some girls who wear extremely LOUD make up and BIG hair. personally i would never do that, however i still can admire it as its their way of expressing themselves.
I love my white skin!
